In the mid-90s, the tide was turning in the Eastern Canadian streetpunk/Oi scene. Events leading up to the formation of Insurgence involved boots on the concrete in Montreal. The scene in Montreal evolved around one important band; that band was the Street Troopers. The 2nd generation of SHARP was starting on their own terms and avoiding the pitfalls of those who came before them. Street Troopers fought the good fight and the soundtrack kicked ass.

The Street Troopers produced a demo which in turn evolved into the first full length, Take the Battle to the Streets (1997), followed up soonafter by an EP Montreal (1998). Featuring a lead track on the first Class Pride World Wide compilation, Street Troopers played their last tour with the Angelic Upstarts in 2001, then called it quits.

The frontman, Nic Trooper went on to perform in the progression of the Troopers; Fate 2 Hate, and finally Union Made. Fast forward to 2018 and the Street Troopers have reformed to play the infamous Montreal Oi! Fest and support the release of the first single in the Inflame Singles Series; a split effort between the band and their friends in Bromure!
